As his race fights the last battle of the last age, a legendary guardian is given an unthinkable command: take the Prince of all creation beyond the Nothing and into the forbidden realm of non-existence, a fate worse than death.

The last thing the guardian ever wanted was responsibility for a child, much less the inheritor of all existence. Yet obedience would mean taking the Prince beyond the Nothing and into the forbidden realm of non-existence. Faced with an impossible choice, the guardian defies the gods while the final war rages around them.

That act of disobedience sets the story of Vass into motion.
